Red Oak, Iowa Sunflower Mini Session | The Wenzel Family
Every summer, I look forward to sunflower season. There is something so special about watching families slow down, laugh together, and make memories surrounded by bright golden blooms. It’s one of my favorite times of year to photograph families in southwest Iowa.
The Wenzel family was such a joy to spend the evening with. From sweet sibling snuggles to genuine laughter, every moment felt effortless. The little ones were full of personality, and those candid interactions are always my favorite images to capture. They weren’t worried about having the “perfect” photo—they simply enjoyed being together, and that’s what makes these memories so meaningful.
As a family photographer based near Red Oak, Iowa, my goal is always to create photographs that feel authentic. I want you to remember how this season of life felt—the little smiles, tiny hands, giggles, and all the in-between moments that pass by so quickly.
Sunflower Minis are only offered for a short time each year because the blooms don’t last long, but they always become some of my favorite sessions of the summer. The warm evening light paired with the vibrant yellow flowers creates such a timeless backdrop for families.
